Achieve a formally qualified workforce with Skilling Solutions Queensland

Have you or your staff got skills and experience but no formal qualifications?


Would you like to know how you could increase your staff motivation and productivity and achieve a formally qualified workforce in a reduced time and at a reduced cost?


Skilling Solutions Queensland can help!


Skilling Solutions Queensland is a free training and career information service provided by the Department of Education and Training that can help you turn your staff’s workplace skills and experience into a formal qualification through recognition of prior learning.


The specially trained consultants can work with you to identify how the skills and experience of each staff member could count towards a range of relevant formal qualifications.  They will then help you choose the qualification that best suits your business and their needs. 


Once you have selected the qualification you wish your staff to pursue through recognition of prior learning, Skilling Solutions Queensland can put you in touch with a network of training organisations to complete the formal recognition of prior learning process.


Depending on the qualification, subsidies towards the cost of the formal recognition of prior learning process may also be available for eligible staff members.

 

Wendy Mogg from Skilling Solutions Queensland said new challenges had arisen from growth in the Queensland economy and labour market.


"It is clear that we need to give greater attention to the impacts of an ageing workforce and the labour shortages emerging across a number of industries and regions," Ms Mogg said.


"A stronger focus is also required on building workforce skills in priority professions that are crucial to the state's continued economic growth," she said.


Skilling Solutions Queensland is a major component of the
Queensland Government's Towards Q2 target that 3 out of 4 Queenslanders will hold trade, training or tertiary qualifications by 2020.  This target has been developed to ensure Queenslanders have the skills and qualifications required to drive the Queensland's future economic prosperity. 


Skilling Solutions Queensland has 16 customer service centres across Queensland, including Toowoomba and recently launched its first mobile Customer Service Centre.


The van provides exactly the same service as the existing 16 customer service centres, however the difference is that the service is be taken out to the regional communities where it is needed and where it can be easily accessed by people who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity to use the service.


The Skilling Solutions Queensland mobile van will be servicing Tara on the 18th and 19th October and, Miles on 20th and 21st October. The van regularly visits Dalby and Chinchilla on the first week of each month.
